The South East Users Group has entered into negotiations to consolidate the South East Users Group with The International Users Group. The South East Users Group and International Users Group have determined that one Users Group will be more beneficial for all Users. The reasons for this are:
1. A single larger group has more voice than two smaller groups
2. There is a duplication of efforts between the two groups
3. A lot of work has to be put in by both Boards to ensure that they are aware of each others’ issues
4. Harris has indicated that they are trying to keep costs down and sending the resources tmeetings is becoming problematic
As a result of this and because the International group represents a wider scope of users it is the recommendation of both Boards that the South East Users Group be disbanded. The South East Users affected would still be users under the International Group as they are today. The needs and attention of the South East Users will be represented on the International Board by the newly created position of South East Director. Both Boards agree that the first sitting South East Director will be a present member of the South East Board as chosen by that Board. After this term is completed the Director will be nominated and elected byattendees at the annual meetingin accordance with the International Users Group By-laws. The term of this Director will be as per the International By-laws governing Directors. In recognition of the travel restrictions that some of the South East Users face, the International Board proposes to hold every other meeting in Florida for the next 4 years. This will be re-evaluated at that time and may be extended.
Please take the opportunity to attend the 2010 Harris International Users Group conference being held May 17th at the Marriott Orlando Airport. The information can be found by visiting the website at http://www.HarrisUsers.org.
Sincerely,
Dennis W. Fodi
President South East Users Group
